Preparing for Graduation

With most of your coursework behind you, only a handful of tasks remain to finalize your UCSC degree. The timeline below shows when to run a Degree Progress Report, file your Application for Graduation, and reserve a Commencement spot if you plan to participate. Follow these steps and keep an eye on your UCSC email for any follow-ups, and you’ll wrap up your degree without surprises.

Need proof before the diploma? Request a Certificate of Completion from the Registrar if an employer or grad school needs verification sooner.


  • Resolve holds early. Financial Aid, Library, or Conduct holds can delay posting your degree.
  • Double majors/minors: Make sure both advising programs sign off on your final plan.
