Transfer Credit Report
A transfer credit report lists transfer coursework posted to a student's record. The following explains the transfer credit report, available to students on MyUCSC. Click here for a .pdf download of this page. Clicking on an image in this page will bring the figure full-size in another browser. To understand your transfer credit, please read Understanding Your Transfer Credit (Fall 2005) by the Office of Admissions.
The Office of Admissions evaluates transfer credit from other colleges/universities and awards credit in accordance with University Academic Senate policies. The Office of Admissions determines the which courses will transfer, as well as any courses that satisfy General Education or University-wide requirements. If, after reviewing your transfer credit, you believe that an error has been made, use the Review of Transfer Credit form to request a review of your transfer credit. This form should be submitted to the Office of Admissions, 150 Hahn Student Services.
There are three sources of transfer credit: Course Credit, Test Credit and Other Credit.
Course Credits
The Transfer Credit Report is divided into three sections.
The first section (Figure 1), displays the student name and if they have course, test, and/or other credit posted to their record. Links are only active if the student has credit posted under a specific source.
The second section (Figure 2) is the model number. Source institution indicates the school the credit was transferred from. In this example, the student transferred credit from De Anza College. Credits from more than one school will activate the navigation links just above the Figure 2 box.
Some transfer and test credit information from the legacy Student Information System (SIS) was converted to AIS. Students with this converted data will have “GE Requirements Satisfied,” “Pre-Fall 2004,” or “UCSC Placement Exams” listed in Source Institution. GE Requirements are used to ensure accuracy of the new degree progress report in AIS. Pre-Fall 2004 is transfer credit totals converted from SIS. UCSC Placement Exam is converted placement exam information.
Reading the Course Credits page is simple. In this example, “Average Student” transferred credit from De Anza College (Figure 2). Looking at the first line in the transfer credit detail (Figure 3), in Fall 2004, Average Student transferred ARTS 1B, Group 1, taken for four credits for which he/she received a B grade. This course was posted to his/her record and he/she received four credits (a semester credit is worth 1.5 quarter credits).
Taking a look at Group 7, the student transferred in ECON 1 and he/she received transfer and GE credit (the second line of Group 7).
UCSC will award graduation credit for up to 105 quarter credits of transferrable coursework from a community college. Courses in excess of 105 quarter credits will receive subject credit and may be used to satisfy university subject requirements.
For questions about Course Credits, contact the Office of Admissions (myapplication@ucsc.edu).
Test Credits
Test Credit may be viewed through the Transfer Credit Report. There are several types of tests that appear, from self-reported scores students put on their application to official scores sent by the College Board.
In this example, reading Test Credits is similar to reading Course Credits. Fall 2004, this student had two test credit groups transferred to his/her record: Advance Placement Verified (APV), Tests 66 and 78. The student received a score of four on both. Both of these exams were posted to his/her record. Test 66 was awarded a Q, IN and four credits and Test 78 was awarded an IN and eight credits. A listing of test codes and their descriptions follows.
The other tests, such as AP and SATI are not posted to the student’s record because the tests are not credit earning.
For questions about Test Credits, contact the Office of Admissions (myapplication@ucsc.edu).

Other Credits
The final type of transfer credit is Other Credit. Other Credit is a work-around solution to help students enroll. After evaluating transcripts from other institutions, prerequisite coursework is manually coded into the system to facilitate enrollment into classes.
If you passed a course at another institution you believe satisfies a prerequisite to enroll, contact the course sponsoring department for enrollment options.
