Maximum Enrollment Quarters and Credits

Students who enter as frosh are expected to complete their degrees within four years of enrollment (12 fall, winter, spring quarters, or equivalent) and 225 credits, and junior transfer students are normally expected to complete their degrees within two years of enrollment (6 fall, winter, spring quarters, or equivalent) and 135 credits. Students who need to enroll beyond this time must complete all degree requirements within 5 years (15 fall, winter, spring quarters, or equivalent) or, for junior transfer students, 3 years ( 9 fall, winter, spring quarters, or equivalent). To determine “equivalent quarters,” add up your transfer course credit and the number of credits attempted in official part-time enrollment, and divide by 15 to determine the number of quarters already completed. More information is in The Navigator

Being academically approved for an extension beyond these limits does not automatically qualify you to receive financial aid. The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office has academic progress policies that limit aid eligibility.

If you are already declared in a major and find that you need to extend your enrollment beyond the EGT (expected graduation term) listed in your MyUCSC Portal, contact an advisor at your college.

To find your EGT, go to your MyUCSC Student Center and click on “Student Advising Summary” and then the “Degree” tab.
