General Education Requirements

Information about the general education requirements (GEs) is available in the General Catalog. You must satisfy all general education requirements to graduate. Transfer students may have completed the lower division GEs through completing IGETC. 

IDENTIFYING GE COURSES
When you use the Class Search function to choose classes, the codes you see in the Class Search represent both the old and the new GEs (UCSC adopted a new pattern of general education requirements in 2010). Your Academic Advisement Report in MyUCSC will tell you which GEs you need to complete; use this information to select the appropriate GE courses.

CURRENT GE CODES: CC, ER, IM, MF, SI, SR, TA, PE-E, PE-H, PE-T, PR-C, PR-E, PR-S, C, & DC

OLD GE CODES: IH, IN, IS, TH, TN, TS, Q, C1/C2 or C, A, W or DC, & E.
