Getting Started in History of Art and Visual Culture: 2023-2024 Entering Transfers

🔙

Students are admitted to UC Santa Cruz with a "proposed major" in most cases, and later petition to officially declare the major. Admission does not guarantee acceptance into a particular major, although transfer students' records are screened for preparation for many majors at the time of admission. Junior transfer students must be formally declared by the deadline in their second quarter of enrollment.

Qualification requirements and/or prerequisites for the major:

Review Major Qualification Requirements in the General Catalog.

Transfer students who intend to pursue this major should do the following prior to the beginning of their first term…

Review major requirements in the General Catalog and meet with the undergraduate advisor.

Students who have taken college-level transferable courses that may apply to the requirements of this major should contact the undergraduate advisor.

...and should take these courses their first term:

Transfer students should enroll in lower-division or upper-division courses that satisfy regional requirements not satisfied by transferable coursework.

If unable to enroll in the courses listed above:

Sign up on a waitlist and contact the undergraduate advisor for guidance.

Special enrollment procedures:

Enroll in classes during your online enrollment appointment time.

Although not required for the major, students in this major might benefit from:

Foreign language courses.

Other Information:

Transfer credit may be given for up to three lower-division and two upper-division courses. Refer to the ASSIST articulation agreements at www.assist.org for approved lower-division courses. Transfer credit for courses taken at other universities or community college courses not articulated in ASSIST may be applied toward the requirements for the major with the approval of the department. A syllabus is required as part of the petition process.
