We work to support undergraduate success, retention and graduation, and create an environment in which academic advising can take place effectively by:
Supporting training and development opportunities for advisors:
- Advising Forum for campus advising community
- Coordinating training for academic advisors
- Development of official business processes for advisors
- Advising Certificate Program: Advising the Students of Today
- All-Hands Informational Meeting; Pre-Orientation Info-Sessions
- Quarterly overview of advising mission, goals, objectives for new advisors
Developing and improving policies, procedures, and tools
- Online tools for advisors
- Development of Infoview and other reports to support efficiency: enrollment check database, finding student populations, etc.
- Support for mass messaging: transfer IGETC messaging, senior no-surprises grad check, LOA returnee notifications
- Support/manage hiring process for colleges advising
Collaborating with Campus Partners to Support Student Success
- Convening Undergraduate Academic Advising Council
- EAB and Degree Progress Report Leadership Team
- Convene and facilitate meetings for all Academic Advisors
- Collaborations with several campus offices and groups
Developing / Supporting Programs and Innovations Aimed At Student Success
- STEV 26: Navigating the Research University
- Maintain websites for advising (advising.ucsc.edu), honors (honors.ucsc.edu),
